Last updated: 1 June 2026

What LecturerMate is

LecturerMate is an AI-assisted feedback drafting and review platform for lecturers. It supports the preparation of feedback drafts, evidence maps, rationales, moderation notes and student-facing comments. It does not make final academic decisions and does not replace institutional marking or moderation processes.

Information you provide

  • Account details such as name and email address.
  • Assessment briefs and task instructions.
  • Marking criteria, rubrics, grade descriptors or learning outcomes.
  • Optional additional context provided by the lecturer.
  • Student submissions uploaded for review.
  • Generated drafts, edits, notes and approval activity.
  • Credit balances and usage activity.

How this information is used

  • To create and manage user accounts.
  • To generate feedback drafts and provisional marking support for lecturer review.
  • To save assessment workspaces so users can return to them.
  • To operate credits and usage tracking.
  • To diagnose errors and improve reliability.
  • To provide admin oversight where enabled.

AI processing

Uploaded assessment materials — including briefs, marking criteria, additional context and student submissions — may be processed by third-party AI model providers and infrastructure providers used to operate LecturerMate, in order to generate draft feedback and related review outputs. Users should only upload materials they are authorised to process.

Who may access or process data

Assessment workspaces are designed around account-based access controls. Information may also be processed by AI model providers and infrastructure providers used to operate LecturerMate for the purposes described above.

Admin access

Admin users may access operational information needed to manage accounts, credits, usage and support. Admin access is intended for service operation and is not a substitute for institutional oversight of marking.

Retention and deletion

Assessment data remains in the user's workspace until the user deletes it or until account-level deletion tools are available. During MVP testing, users can request deletion by contacting hello@lecturermate.com.

Your responsibilities

Users are responsible for ensuring they have permission to upload assessment materials and student work, and for following their institution's policies on data protection, academic integrity and consent. Users should only upload materials they are authorised to process.

Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact hello@lecturermate.com.

LecturerMate does not make solely automated final academic decisions. Outputs are drafts for lecturer review.

International processing

The infrastructure and AI providers used to operate LecturerMate may process information in locations outside your country or region. Users should consider this when uploading material covered by institutional or jurisdictional restrictions.
