Terms of Use
These terms describe how lecturers and authorised users may use LecturerMate during MVP testing.
Last updated: 1 June 2026
What LecturerMate does
LecturerMate is an AI-assisted platform that helps lecturers prepare review-ready feedback drafts, provisional suggested marks, evidence maps, rationale drafts, moderation notes and student-facing comments based on the assessment materials they upload.
What LecturerMate does not do
- It does not make final academic decisions.
- It does not replace institutional marking policies or moderation requirements.
- It does not guarantee grade outcomes, accuracy, appeal outcomes or moderation outcomes.
- It does not submit feedback or marks to students automatically.
- It does not remove the lecturer's responsibility to review, edit and approve any output before use.
User responsibilities
Users are responsible for keeping their login details secure, using accurate account information, and ensuring their use of LecturerMate complies with their institution's policies and any applicable law.
Assessment materials and upload permissions
Users must only upload assessment briefs, marking criteria, additional context and student submissions that they are permitted to process. Users are responsible for following the consent, copyright, data-protection and academic-integrity rules that apply at their institution.
AI-generated outputs are drafts
All outputs produced by LecturerMate — including suggested marks, rubric analyses, evidence maps, rationales, moderation notes and student-facing feedback — are drafts intended to support a lecturer's review. They are not final marking decisions and should not be treated as such.
Lecturer review and approval
The lecturer is expected to review, edit where needed and explicitly approve any output before it is shared, used as feedback, used as a marking rationale, or relied on in moderation. Final academic judgement remains with the lecturer and the institution.
Credits and usage
Credits may be required to generate feedback drafts. A successful generation normally uses one credit. Failed generations may not use a credit or may be refunded automatically depending on the stage at which the failure occurred.
Acceptable use
The following is not permitted:
- Uploading material the user has no right to process.
- Attempting to bypass access controls or other security measures.
- Using LecturerMate to produce fully automated final grading decisions.
- Using outputs as final feedback, marks or moderation rationale without appropriate academic review.
- Any unlawful, abusive or harmful use of the service.
Availability during MVP testing
LecturerMate is currently offered for MVP testing. Access, features, credit limits and availability may change, and the service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or development work.
